TASHKENT -- A gas explosion has killed two men and destroyed part of a house in the Tashkent Region of Uzbekistan, the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations said Sunday.

The fatal incident occurred on Saturday night due to gas leakage from an underground gas pipeline that passes underneath the house located in Qibray District of the region, the ministry said, adding accumulating gas in the basement led to the explosion. (Uzbekistan-Explosion)

KABUL -- At least a taxi driver was wounded in two separate explosions in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan Sunday, causing panic in the second straight day of violence in the city, the capital police confirmed.

In one incident, one person was wounded after a sticky improvised explosive device (IED) attached to a wagon-type taxi detonated at 6:10 a.m. in Hesa-e-Hawal-e-Khair Khana Mina, Kabul police spokesman Ferdaus Faramarz told reporters via a text message. (Afghanistan-Kabul-Explosions)

MEXICO CITY -- The death toll from a gas truck explosion earlier this week in western Mexico's Nayarit state rose to 15 after the sole survivor of the tragedy died in the hospital, local officials said on Saturday.

The Nayarit State Attorney General's Office said it was notified early in the day of the death of the woman, who had been convalescing from severe burns at a hospital in Tepic, capital of Nayarit. (Mexico-Explosion-Death)

GAZA -- The Israeli army attacked Hamas sites in the Gaza Strip early Sunday after Palestinian militants fired a handmade rocket from the coastal enclave toward Israel, according to Palestinian security sources.

The Palestinian sources told Xinhua that the Israeli warplanes attacked Hamas' sites in the cities of Gaza, Khan Younis and Rafah, adding that the raids caused massive explosions. (Israel-Gaza-Hamas)
