The Countdown Cup qualifiers continued on Sunday in the Eastern Region of the 2021 Overwatch League with the Seoul Dynasty, New York Excelsior and Philadelphia Fusion picking up wins.

The biggest upset of the day saw the New York Excelsior (7-7, 7 points) take a hard-fought 3-2 win over the top-ranked Shanghai Dragons (10-4, 18 points). The win comes at a crucial time for New York, which is still battling for playoff contention. It's the second straight loss for Shanghai since winning their second mid-season tournament and locking in a berth into the 2021 playoffs.

New York started with a 2-1 win on Ilios, then Shanghai took King's Row 3-2 to tie up the series. The Excelsior looked solid on Havana with a 2-1 win, but the Dragons took Game 4 on King's Row with a 3-2 win. In the series-deciding Game 5, the Excelsior outlasted the Dragons thanks in large part to DPS Youngwoo "Flora" Yim's contributions as McCree, taking the Lijiang Tower map 2-1 to win the series.

In other Sunday action, the Philadelphia Fusion (9-5, 9 points) took down the Hangzhou Spark (7-7, 7 points) in a 3-1 series win. Hot off the heels of taking down the top-ranked Shanghai Dragons, the Fusion came into this series riding a wave of momentum. On the flip side, the Spark were still reeling from their 2-3 loss to the Seoul Dynasty on Saturday.

Hangzhou started with a 2-1 win on Nepal, but then the Fusion reacted by committing to full-on bunker and dive compositions, playing to their all-star roster's strengths and picking up three straight game wins. Philadelphia took Blizzard World 2-1, dominated Route 66 in a 3-0 shutout, and finished the series with a 2-1 win on Temple of Anubis.

Finally, the Seoul Dynasty (11-3, 11 points) made quick work of the Los Angeles Valiant (0-14, 0 points) in a 3-0 sweep. Seoul wasted little time taking over the series, winning Game 1 on Ilios 2-0. After full-holding for a 1-0 win on Numbani in Game 2, the Dynasty closed out the series with a 3-2 win on Havana. The win helps the Dynasty stay near the top of the standings for playoff contention. On the other side, this loss means Los Angeles is one step closer to finishing a winless season.
